The medium moving crate 64L was designed with home moves in mind. Smaller than the standard removal crate, it is easier to get through doors and to handle on stairs. This makes it a great option for DIY house moves, and smaller moves.
Designed for Moving Home
The medium moving crate - similar to all our crates - has ergonomic carrying handles at the ends, with an attached folding lid. If you compare it to cardboard moving boxes, that you have to fold and tape before each one is used, you can imaging how much time is saved on larger moves. This is one of the reasons crate hire is so common in commercial relocations, where speed is of the essence.
Perfect Size
Though the bigger 80L crate is the industry standard and our most popular crate, the medium 64L crate is recommended for home moves. Why? The smaller volume makes it easier to handle in tight spaces, and also means it doesn't get as heavy when full. Professional removals companies are used to the challenge of heavy items, but if you are doing a home move yourself, it can be quite hard to move a full 80L crate in comparison. The smaller 64-litre crate is also better at fitting through doors and easier to carry on narrower domestic stairs.
Security
The lid can be secured with security seals, or numbered seals if you require an end-to-end chain of custody and a way to check there has been no tampering. This is common practice in retail distribution when sending high-value items.

Nice size plastic moving box. We got some of these and the standard moving crate. It is true that these fit better through the door and down stairs if you carry them. But we also carefully slid the standard boxes down the stairs if they were heavy. I got my son to take the weight in front and he carefully took it down. Not great for health and safety if you’re a pro, but it was ok for us lol. And the standard size are longer so easier to slide. Just thought I’d point that out lol
